Virtual Code Club

When lockdown started, Leeds Libraries wanted to make sure we stayed connected to our Code Club families across Leeds and also attract new families who want to have a go. We teamed up with CityFibre, who are rolling out the next generation of full fibre broadband across Leeds, to help support the prizes for the challenges, which include Moonhack, Arcade Games, Silly Squad and 13 Storey Treehouse Platform Game. This month, to celebrate the Summer Reading Challenge, we welcome you to create joke books using BBC Micro:bits or an animal filled game using Scratch. Be inspired by our Silly Squad book of the month, Hotel Flamingo.

Create animated micro:bit books full of your favourite jokes, using this project as a starting point or use Scratch to create an animated game!

You will be able to view example projects and share your creations via Micro:bit and Scratch Classrooms and will be invited to our fortnightly Zoom meeting to share projects and ask any questions. Classroom and Zoom log in details will be sent on signing up to the event.

Ask us any questions, find videos and top tips via our Facebook event

CityFibre, who are investing £120 million in Leeds to provide the next generation of full fibre gigabit capable broadband, will be gifting £20 gift cards for shop.pimoroni.com for everyone who completes 3 challenges!
